“My obsession is daytime to evening,” Riccardo Tisci says. As proof he showed a very French couture frilled bustier evening dress with a cropped sweater thrown over in his Resort collection. “I’m obsessed with sweatshirts and T-shirts — that’s how I live my life.”

True Story: I read in this book “Abortion: The Politics of Motherhood” that abortion only became a contested issue when physicians were trying to establish actual doctors from “quacks”. They would argue that abortions should only be performed by a physician, and only real physicians can determine when and how an abortion should be carried out. Thus, in order to gain recognition as doctors, they took the issue of abortion out of the hands of women and it became the sole discretion of physicians.
Exactly. Much like with midwifery practices, the newly emergent male-dominated medical profession was like, “No way are we letting these hippie women continue having power over ANYTHING, not. even. pregnancy,” even though midwives and other women have been learning about pregnancy and childbirth and figuring out what works and what doesn’t for, well, forever, and doctors barely had any idea what reproductive parts COME with female bodies, let alone how they worked.
So, cue smear campaign against midwives and other women with reproductive knowledge, and propaganda talking about how hospitals were the best/only place to have any medical care surrounding reproduction, and lots of women suffering and dying as the male doctors just kind of made shit up as they went along without any research and without consulting any women on the subject! yay
